Suspension strut with adjustable preloading

The strut which has adjustable initial tension comprises mountings (4, 5) for a sprung and an unsprung mass. A compression spring (3) is attached to one of these and a cylinder and piston unit (7, 8) to the other. The free end of the spring is connected to the piston (8). An electrohydraulic pump and feed channels for hydraulic fluid are mounted in the cylinder casing.
