Method to operate a motor vehicle with a steering lock and a monitoring device

A method for operating a motor vehicle with a steering wheel lock and a monitoring device is presented, wherein the monitoring device generates a signal indicating the locking state of the steering wheel and the power steering remains in operation independently of ignition until the steering wheel is locked. Additionally, a warning signal is preferably activated when the driver intends to leave the vehicle. Furthermore, an adjustment device can be provided for generating the adjustment movement of the steering wheel until it locks into place.
