Independent power generation system

The unit has at least one accumulator element (3), especially for insertion into an explosive atmosphere, with an arrangement for limiting the peak temperature in the event of an element-internal short circuit. The peak temperature limiting arrangement has a heat sink (5) with higher thermal capacity thermally connected to the accumulator element or elements.
