Internal combustion engine (1) comprising a crankcase (2), a crankshaft (4), a mid-shaft (27), at least one cylinder (22) and at least a first and a second auxiliary machine (36,37) wherein the crankshaft (4) and the mid-shaft (27) are drivably connected to each other, and wherein the first and second auxiliary machines (36,37) are disposed on opposite sides of the mid-shaft (27), and drivably connected to said mid-shaft (27), by a wrapping type power transmission means (38). Said wrapping type power transmission means (38) comprises a first connecting means (42) drivably connecting the mid-shaft (27) and the first auxiliary machine (36) and a second connecting means (45) drivably connecting the mid-shaft (27) and the second auxiliary machine (37).
