The invention relates to a safety belt device for motor vehicles with a safety belt (12) and a deflection device (14) for the safety belt, which is connected to a bracket (16) that can be attached to the vehicle via an absorption unit (18), wherein the deflection device (14) can be moved relative to the bracket (16) in an absorption direction by forces occurring during an accident-induced pulling movement of the safety belt (12), while overcoming an absorption resistance opposed by the absorption unit, but is prevented from moving in the absorption direction in forces occurring during normal operation, and wherein to overcome the absorption resistance, the absorption unit is deformable by the deflection device (14) moving in the absorption direction.
