Vehicle occupant restraining device

This safety protection arrangement for vehicles has a gas generator (20) connected by a gas pipe (28) to two separate air bags (12,14). The main air bag (12), when inflated, is positioned to protect the passenger's head whilst the secondary air bag (14), when inflated, protects the passenger's thorax. When uninflated, the secondary air bag is stored in the vehicle B' pillar (22).
