The parking brake (1.2a) is in the form of a synchronous machine with permanent magnet stimulation and transversal flux guidance, especially a transversal flux machine. It is implemented as a two-phase synchronous machine with transversal flux guidance and an arrangement for producing a short circuit that is associated with only one phase of the synchronous machine.. Independent claims are also included for the following: a drive system, a drive train, the use of a drive system for a land vehicle, the use in a rail vehicle and a method of producing a parking force to prevent unintentional roll-away.
