Process and device for folding an airbag and airbag folded thereby

The system for storing a folded air bag (16) comprises a base (10) and lid and a steel band (24) with one end (26) fixed between the two. This surrounds the air bag and fills the gap between base and lid. Its free end (28) is attached to an adjusting cylinder (30) and an inflating system is mounted under the base. Independent claims are included for: (a) a method for folding an air bag using the system; and (b) bag produced by the method.
