DRIVE
April 3, 2002
Fuel delivery device for an internal combustion engine (10) comprises at least one feed pump (12) conveying fuel from a tank (14) to a high pressure pump (16) which conveys the fuel under high pressure to injection points (22) on the engine. The feed pump is mechanically driven by the engine. An additional feed pump (30) conveying the fuel from the tank to the high pressure pump is electrically driven and is operated independently of the mechanically driven feed pump. Preferred Features: The mechanically driven feed pump and the additional feed pump convey fuel in parallel from the tank to the high pressure pump.
