The invention relates to a vehicle interior trim panel with reduced glare effect on the windshield or rear window. It comprises the following features: a transparent surface layer (2), whose upper boundary surface (7) has a non-smooth structure, with partial areas of the boundary surface (1) inclined toward the windshield or rear window; a matte absorber layer (5) arranged below the surface layer (2); a zone existing between surface layer (2) and absorber layer (5) with total reflective effect for light rays incident at shallow angles from outside into the vehicle interior; means (7,8,9) for scattering the light so that a natural brightness impression results for the vehicle occupant.
