March 6, 2002
This internal combustion engine suitable for installation in a motor vehicle with auxiliary assemblies, which comprise, for example, an alternator and a water pump, are arranged on an outer side of a housing structure of the internal combustion engine. In order to make the auxiliary assemblies easy to assemble and to accommodate them in a spatially advantageous manner on the housing structure of the internal combustion engine, the alternator and the water pump form a structural unit that is connected to the housing structure of the internal combustion engine.
