Combustion engine for a motor vehicle

DRIVE October 19, 2011
Source
The internal combustion engine (1) has a fluid circuit, particularly liquid closed loop, such as cooling circuit, and a fluid pump (2), particularly coolant pump arranged in the fluid circuit. The fluid pump is driven by the internal combustion engine or by an electric motor (3). The internal combustion engine and the electric motor are connected with the fluid pump by a planetary drive (4) formed as a summation gear. A hollow wheel is provided to form the rotor of the electric motor. An independent claim is also included for a planetary drive with which electric motor and internal combustion engine are coupled to a coolant pump for speed transmission.
