Vehicle driver warning procedure
DRIVE
February 27, 2002
The method for alerting a car driver when sensors mounted on the car detect a critical situation comprises determining the degree of attentiveness of the driver and providing an alarm signal appropriate to this. The degree of attentiveness is determined by a camera which provides information on e.g. the direction of vision and rate of blinking to a computer (23). Alternatively the driver's degree of tiredness may be determined by measuring his temperature and pulse rate. the signals may be prioritised according to the seriousness of the situation.
