Method for folding an airbag and device for carrying out this method

The procedure for the folding of an airbag entails the spread out airbag (1) being moved continuously relative to a focusing unit (2), then folded up to a defined cross section (X2) and continuously withdrawn from the focusing unit. After leaving the focusing unit the airbag is in a ready folded state and has stretching in the longitudinal direction corresponding to the length of a longish packing. An Independent claim is included for a device for carrying the aforesaid procedure which has a focusing unit which folds up the spread out airbag as it passes through.
