An anode material contains reduced tin dioxide. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the anode material comprising binding a tin chloride solution with urea; binding the solution obtained with urotropin; emulsifying the sol obtained in petroleum ether; washing the gel obtained and drawing off the solvent; drying and tempering the gel; and subjecting the SnO2 obtained to a reducing gas stream in an aerated oven.
