Air bag module

The airbag module has a restraining device which is constructed so that it can release the middle section(13) of the front wall(12) of the airbag after an initial holding back. The airbag module has a gas generator(5), and a retaining component(6) enclosing it and upon which fits the restraining device. The restraining device during unfolding of the airbag is purposefully destroyed in order to release the middle section of the front wall. The restraining device has an arrester band(15) fastened to the middle section of the front wall.
