Roof rack fastening

DRIVE November 14, 2001
Source
The vehicle roof has rails along its long edges, with the roof rack fastened to them via support feet. Each rail (3) has a constriction (10,11), to reduce its profile, for engagement with a tensioning clamp (8) of a support foot (5). The constriction has vertical ribs to limit horizontal movement of the clamp. Each roof rail is fastened in a welding channel (2) of the roof (1), projecting upwards, and each rail completely fills the channel.
