Fixing element for attaching a roof rack

The mounting element (1) for the fastening of a roof rack to the roof of a vehicle has a foot (2) permanently fastened to the roof, and a head (3) designed to support the roof rack. The head has a thread (10) into which is screwed a threaded bolt (9) for the temporary fastening of the roof rack. For the permanent fastening of the mounting element on the roof the foot has a collar (4) and a thread (5) upon which is screwed a fastening element, whereby the underside of the collar comes into contact with the outer side of the roof.
