Composite laminate beam for automotive body construction

A composite laminate beam (12) for an automotive body construction (10) has an outer structural portion (14) and an inner tube portion (16) separated by a thin layer of structural foam (18). The beam may take the form of a radiator support structure, a roof or windshield pillar, a rocker assembly, a drive shaft or similar structures. A method of making the beam is also disclosed.
