The cabriolet automobile has a rigid roof (1) supported at either side by a carrier group (6), provided with a lever mechanism (7), which pivots about a main bearing (5) at the rear part of the automobile body, for manual or automatic movement of the roof between its closed and open positions, with an independent closure force amplification device supported from the main bearing via a carrier plate.
