The controler receives and evaluates input signals and produces a triggering signal under defined conditions. A sensor detects front wheel rotation or deceleration and generates a corresponding signal. If an anti-lock braking system is present an activation signal is produced to activate it. The controler only allows airbag triggering if the front wheel is decelerated to null with the ABS activated, whether the brakes are activated or not. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of triggering airbags, especially for single-track vehicles.
