In the catalytic conversion of carbon monoxide (CO) in a gas mixture containing water to carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2) (CO conversion) by passing the gas mixture over a shift catalyst at the temperature for CO conversion, the shift catalyst is based on noble metals in the form of a coating on an inert carrier.
