The invention relates to a steerable independent wheel suspension for a motor vehicle, in particular, having a wheel carrier (16) supporting a vehicle wheel, which is connected in its upper region and in its lower region respectively via a mounting element (22) to control arms (10, 12) and is provided with a brake caliper support element, by means of which a brake caliper (20) for braking the vehicle wheel is supported. According to the invention, the brake caliper support element is formed as a support plate (18) that can be rotated relative to the wheel carrier (16) to a certain extent, and the upper mounting element (22) is movable relative to the wheel carrier (16) and is furthermore coupled to the brake caliper support plate (18) in such a manner that during braking the support plate (18) is rotated relative to the wheel carrier (16) by the braking torque and thereby causes a movement of the mounting element (22) relative to the wheel carrier (16), by means of which the wheel carrier (16) is slightly rotated counter to the direction of rotation of the braked wheel. The brake caliper support plate (18) is preferably rotatable relative to the wheel carrier (16) about the rotational axis (X) of the wheel, and the mounting element (22) is pivotably mounted on the wheel carrier (16) about an axis parallel to the wheel rotational axis (X) and is coupled via a connecting link (32) to the brake caliper support plate (18).
