Device and method for operating a vehicle

The device has a navigation system (1-6) and a sensor (7) to determine the remaining fuel quantity in the vehicle. The navigation system detects and evaluates signals from the fuel sensor. When the fuel quantity drops below a minimum amount, the navigation system determines and displayed a route to a petrol station. The route is determined to the nearest petrol station or by taking fuel consumption into account. An Independent claim is included for a method for using the device.
