Current collector

DRIVE August 1, 2001
Source
The current take-off device (10) has a wiper (16) contacting an overhead current wire supported by lower and upper lever arms (12,14), acted on by a drive (26) for raising and lowering the wiper. The drive uses a hose element (28) supplied with a pressure medium for altering its length and coupled to the lower lever arm via a coupling element (30), for converting the length variation into a vertical movement of the wiper.
