Safety belt arrangement for a vehicle occupant

The arrangement has separate shoulder and lap straps (4,5). Each strap has at least one individual belt tensioner (6,10) and associated crash type sensitive crash sensors (11,12,14) for optimal operation of the belt tensioners with respect to safety. The tensioners for both belts have at least one associated longitudinal crash sensor and the shoulder strap sensor has an associated lateral crash sensor.
