Method for heating a catalyst of a lean burn internal combustion engine especially at idle
DRIVE
June 20, 2001
The method involves determining the catalyst cooling characteristic a during an engine lean phase. A lower temperature limit is fixed with respect to the catalyst operation temperature. At least one minimum heating temperature is determined, from which the operation temperature reduces during cooling, after cutting off the cooling above the lower temperature limit. The catalyst is heated above the minimum heating temperature for each lean phase.
