Vehicle occupant protection device comprising an airbag module

The module has an airbag and a gas generator, and is located behind a wall panel with aperture and cover. The cover has a rebound strap holder (8), formed as a bifilar connection, with two tapes (13,15), which enclose an angle of less than 180 degrees across the top of the closed cover cap (2). When the airbag is inflated, the cover is lifted off the passage aperture (3) in the wall, and is moved sidewards into the angled area defined by the tapes. A third shorter tape (14) may be located between the first two tapes. All tapes are manufactured from the same material as the airbag.
