what i listened to this week (6/21-7/4)
I hope everyone is staying COOL!!!! Here's some music I liked this week(s):
あゝ君に転生 - BEYOOOOONDS
I know this is an old song but I forgot how much I loved it until the algorithm served it back up to me. I just love this sound so much!! I need to work harder to listen to more j-pop, because it's the only place you can regularly get four minute songs anymore.
Speakerphone - Rebecca Black
Rebecca has just been releasing hit after hit. The beat on this is SICKENING, and so is her lyricism. "I'm ex-bicurious, now I'm try-sexual / made a girl my boyfriend, her dad's traditional" might be my favorite bar of the year. She has such a knack for mixing club bangers with thoughtful musings on celebrity and the mortifying ordeal of being observed.
Romance - JeA
Not gonna lie, this song feels a little unfinished but it's just so good to hear JeA's voice again! It's a cute track, and the retro sound suits her really well. I need a Brown Eyed Girls comeback so bad... side-eyeing their imminent 20th anniversary and praying for a miracle.
Wantcha Bad - MYERA
I really loved MYERA's debut track, but they slipped under my radar until this one. This chorus could easily be a stinker (I am so done with sing-talk fr) but the second half of it really saves it. The song is kinda a mess, but in a way I really enjoy. A lot of that has to do with the little production choices - synths, background vocals, bass. I'm excited for more from them!
On Wires - Carly Rae Jepsen
Gay people rejoice!! New Carly Rae imminent!!! This isn't my favorite of her singles, but it's just so nice to hear from her that I don't mind. I like the brass arrangement, it's tasty.
Wo, man (feat. Ayra Starr) - Peggy Gou
I've been on kind of a Peggy Gou kick recently, and I really loved this one. Ayra Starr has such a great voice for this kind of 90's piano house. It's super catchy and listenable.
Spinning World - Perfume
Man.... I just miss them so bad. Perfect song, perfect album.
ok bye <3
