In the Garden

.... First week of April It's easy to get fooled by the warm weather we have been having. It's still early. Frost is still a possibility. Cold rain will rot seeds in the wet heavy soil. But if the weather holds we could be in for a nice long growing season. * I put out a bunch more lettuce starts in between the cabbages in bed F at the community garden. * Planted kale, spinach, and lettuce from seed at home. * Worked up the rest of bed F with compost and soil provided by the garden. * Planted kale and lettuce starts at home and started building cold frame structure around the bed to protect from deer. * The azaleas I planted last spring are starting to flower.
