Shakira becomes the sole artist with the third-most Number 1s

With her FIFA-anthem “Dai, Dai” and support by Burna Boy, Shakira earns her eleventh Number 1 on this chart. Shakira is a cross-generational musical phenomenon. She scored her very first chart-topper in 2002 with “Whenever, Wherever”, and continued her streak into the 2000s and 2010s. Shakira first found fame in South America in the late 1990s. In 2023, Shakira scored another Number 1-hit with the break-up anthem “Music Sessions, Vol. 53" with Bizarrap. Being 49 years old, it is rare to see an artist succeed on the charts for such a long time – only Beyoncé or Kylie Minogue can match. “Dai, Dai” is the official FIFA-anthem for the World Cup this year. Shakira previously recorded the 2010-anthem “Waka, Waka” – which despite its global popularity stalled at #2 – and the 2014-hit “Dare”. For Burna Boy, “Dai, Dai” is his first ever Number 1-hit. He previously scored a big global hit with “Last, Last” in 2023 and he became the very first African singer to have two albums earned over 1 billion streams on Spotify. For Shakira, “Dai, Dai” is her eleventh Number 1-single. It joins the likes of “Underneath Your Clothes”, “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Chantaje”. With eleven chart-toppers under her belt, Shakira is now the sole artist with the third-most Number 1-hits ever. She previously shared that accomplishment with Britney Spears and Little Mix, whom both have ten. Only two artists have more Number 1s than our Colombian pop queen: the Spice Girls have scored twelve, while Dua Lipa is the front-runner with thirteen Number 1s.Roxy Ro is kicking off a new era following a mainstage performance at Pinkpop Festival in Holland. Her previous solo single “Go Best Friend” debuted at #8 and her last collaboration “Jij Hebt Mij” with rapper Kevin debuted at #1.Further down, Sombr continues his winning streak on “My Body Isn’t Ready” at #24. His four singles have all reached the Top 10 back-to-back: “Undressed”, “12 to 12”, “Homewrecker” and “Potential”. Will the new song achieve a Top 10-position as well and continue Sombr’s impressive streak? We will have to see if he’s ready. Meanwhile, Peggy Gou and Ayra Starr team up on the summer-ready banger “Wo,  Man” at #30. Both artists had their big well-earned breakthrough in 2023: Peggy Gou with the Number 1-single “It Goes Like (Nanana)” and Ayra Starr with the Afrobeats hit “Rush”. Before their big breakout, they already had big success in their respective genres. And since then, they continued to dominate their respective genres and reached the Top 10 on here again, with “Find The Way” and “My Love”, respectively.
