Invalid response to my refund request
Posting here because I have followed the standard appeal process and want to ensure my case receives a human review.
Someone got access to one of our API keys and I was charged almost $1,000 in one day for their API usage of our key before it hit the monthly cap. I revoked the key the same day and changed the monthly cap.
Also on the same day (May 31) I requested a refund via OpenAI’s chat support, and within minutes I received the following reply by email:
Thank you for your submission. We are unable to review this appeal because appeals must be submitted within 180 days of the original decision or notification. This request was submitted after that timeframe and is therefore ineligible for appeal. As a result, it will be closed without further review.
Obviously my request was neither an appeal nor beyond the 180 day limit. Any suggestions on how I can pursue this further?
On the following page, it says “Unauthorized ChatGPT or API Credit Purchase Charges: How to Request a Refund ”, but it’s obvious my request was handled and denied by a bot.
