Codex MCP Server ENV Variables Update issue

Is anyone else experiencing trouble in updating environment variables in codex desktop (MacOS) application? I have been using local STDIO MCP server in codex which requires some environment variables. It did work perfectly until I had to change the env variable in the config. The MCP config settings is completely unresponsive. I changed the value of the required variable and saved multiple times, reloaded the codex app, everything. still the variable was staying the same.
