Bluesky

It looks like Bluesky is moving ahead with its promise to allow self-hosting. It's not ActivityPub, but it seems like the place that's easy enough for anyone to use while it is possible to avoid lock-in to some extent. I look forward to seeing what people will do with this. In many ways Bluesky reminds me of the twitter of 2009. It is relatively easy to set up a bot and I have done so for my aurora alerts system that sends me a text alert when the aurora borealis is imminent. It's fun to work with this, and I may bring back Whispers in the Dark which I ran when twitter was young. You can find me on Bluesky at @unnecessary.tech.
