"textContent": "It looks like Bluesky is moving ahead with its promise to\nallow self-hosting. It's not\nActivityPub, but it seems like the place that's easy enough for anyone to use\nwhile it is possible to avoid lock-in to some extent. I look forward to seeing\nwhat people will do with this.\n\nIn many ways Bluesky reminds me of the twitter of 2009. It\nis relatively easy to set up a bot and I have done so for my\naurora alerts system that\nsends me a text alert when the aurora borealis is imminent. It's fun to work\nwith this, and I may bring back Whispers in the Dark which I ran when twitter\nwas young.\n\nYou can find me on Bluesky at @unnecessary.tech.",
