Can the SourceCode and the format of the mentioned JSON-File for importing Cities be adapted to work for industries too?

The main problem is not import of the coordinates - that should be the same from the different "features (cities, industries, decorative objects).

The issue is with the fact that there can be a lot of different industries dependent on whether you use the "built-in" version or some industry NewGRF and industries are largely multi-tile.

It should generally be do-able, but only if you are willing do spent a decent amount of time (multiple months, I'd guess) and have a close knowledge of the code base.
