A word on how bridges are going to work.

Firstly - for now I plan to only allow bridges along the grid lines, just like in TTD. Unlike in our favorite game, bridges are separate structures. Track is placed on them later, but a bridge can exist on its own. Moreover - bridges take time to build and require maintenance. On top of that, they are going to have carrying capacity and 'durability'. Essentially - tonnage they can carry before a service is required.

Bridges are composed of 'spans' and 'supports'. A span is either an actual span, or an elevated embankment, if there is not enough space below the bridge. A support is either an abutment or a pier. You get to select which spans and supports to build - essentially, making bridge design and building it's own little mini game. Here is a design overview:
