Yes, that's one of the main issues in the placement of towns, as it is rotated relative OpenStreetMap for example.

For most precise location, I use the QGIS geoinformation system (GIS) to check, which allows you to rotate the map by any degree (here -45° relative to Openstreetmap), but that's probably too much realism for most players

Interestingly, the "topographic map" feature of JGRPP produces screenshots with a normal projection (north on top and so on), not the "diamond-like" presentation of the game itself.
