What's an "MU"?
Multiple Unit.
On the 'real thing', there's EMU's and DMU's - Electric Multiple Units and Diesel Multiple Units, for non-loco hauled trains. For loco hauled trains, 'MU' refers to having multiple locomotives placed on the train, usually the majority are at the front (or head-end) frequently with others in the middle and/or end, all controlled by 1 driving crew from the front locomotive.
