1 — real portfolio and cv reviews, by real people
SuperHi.cv came across my LinkedIn feed last month, and it caught my eye as a fan and user of SuperHi—an online education platform that is aimed at making creative education accessible to everyone. CV is a separate service ran by Rik Lomas and Ryan Smith that is all about providing real feedback to your resumé and portfolio to help you land a job.
2 — a different type of schooling
Last year I took a strategy & design course led by Alex Anderson of TRIPTK on an online schooling platform called Aprender. What makes Aprender stick out to me compared to other educational platforms, is you're not just signing up for a library of pre-recorded videos. Nope. It's a real class where you show up every week, interact with your fellow students, with actual assignments—all taught by industry working professionals.
3 — a peek at quality work for inspo
Who doesn't love a beautiful site that you can get lost in? The Index is a "curated online gallery with the best design studios, designers, type foundries, and other creatives worldwide" founded by Joakim Jansson and Johan Mårtensson that focuses on quality over quantity.

1 — pointer, pointer
Pointer Pointer is a dead simple site with only one interaction, but is strange in a way that reaffirms my love for the internet. For those old enough to remember, this one reminds me of the weird stuff I used to come across via StumbleUpon. I won't give it away, but it should only take you 30 seconds to play with.
2 — month friend
l will always be fascinated by the ways we connect with strangers online. Despite the damage that social media has wrought, I'm stubbornly committed to the belief that it's also the most beautiful part of the web. This is one of those projects that helps me feel like I'm not entirely naive.
Month Friend is a simple concept. Rather than having you post to the void and see if anyone connects with it, this platform pairs you with someone to stay in touch with. Exactly one person, for one month, and then it’s over. To call Month Friend a social network is certainly a stretch as you communicate exclusively via email, but Month Friend handles all of the facilitating including message prompts and pairing, one month and one friend at a time.
3 — public domain: the game
It's common for creators to treat the public domain as a well that they draw from to tell new stories. But they usually do that by inserting their own tweaks into the existing intellectual property. Oliver Stringer is doing something different—injecting the characters from the public domain into a new, 2D world. It’s admittedly very meta, but this is a platformer I am excited to try out when it releases.

updates
- at our last meetup, Ken Voskuil shared a window into how and why he builds side projects, with “Pun Driven Development: A Side Project Philosophy”
- we decided to remove our bland blog-style archive and go all-in with Are.na. You can view last month’s archive channel here.
- we will be taking a break from meet-ups for the summer, with our next event happening on September 19th. In the meantime, we’ll use that break to fine-tune 3&3 behind the scenes. Keep an eye out for a quick questionnaire to help us make this something you’ll continue to love.
