Welcome to the July newsletter. Comb through the MET from home, check out some restored typefaces, reminisce on a more pure naive era of the web, and consider what it would look like to curate your own physical media in twenty-twenty-five. stay ready via taurean 1 — the metropolitan museum of art, online Sort through 490,000 works spanning 5,000 years of art history. The Metropolitan Museum of Art made their collection more accessible than ever. You can navigate their collection by section, filter on works that have been highlighted, and even on what is available in the public domain. 2 — building a brand, redesigning a business start to finish I've followed Matthew Encina's work for a while now and I think this might be the most thorough he has ever been breaking down the process of creating something. In this instance, he gets into the gritty details of completely revamping the brand Mode; and not just the visual work. What I love the most about this is how Matthew deftly shows you how to navigate the design work you rarely get to see publicized. This includes finding the right questions to ask, the work that goes into answering them, and importantly how to present. 3 — x cicero X Cicéro, a character drawing workshop at the ESAD Valence, has published their students' work, which is freely available under the SIL Open Font License. The typefaces themselves are a sort of archive, taking physical wood characters from the 1800s-1900s and identifying, rehabilitating, and digitizing them. stay ready via pedro 1 — the internet used to be a place I'm "old" enough to remember having a family computer in a shared room where I had to rotate computer usage between my brother and I. That space was the only space to access the internet, play RuneScape, chat on AIM, type our school papers, and just browse the web. Those days are long gone, but at what cost? 2 — custom blu-rays of your favorite shows and movies I'm a huge advocate of owning your own media, especially physically, but that just isn't possible with a lot of streaming shows and movies that never see a physical release. In an effort of preserving media I enjoy, I came across this video while going down a rabbit hole of making my own Blu-ray's. 3 — an open-source, privacy centric, e-ink dashboard display Because I don't own, I've been trying to make the layout of my apartment work for me in smarter ways that make my life easier. This open-source e-ink display is one of those things that excite the nerd in me. The flexibility of having a small display that you can mount almost anywhere, displaying information at a glance that matters the most to you, AND won't end up in a landfill?
