1 — long live film
Reductionist design studio Nuevo.Tokyo and Héliographe released AgBr—a black-and-white film emulator that was built off of years of research using modern and expired film stocks. They plan to release new emulations monthly throughout 2025. Even better, it’s available on macOS, iPad, and iPhone with no ads, tracking, or subscription.
2 — hello, chicago
Duane King, a Portland-based creative director, reproduced the bitmap version of the iconic Chicago typeface by Susan Kare—the original typeface for Apple Computer in 1984. You can find it on Github where it is free to download in .otf, .ttf, and .woff formats for all your needs. They also released each individual glyph as well.
3 — merging tradition with government
As we all know, creativity in government can be rather…uninspiring. Thankfully, the folks over at RETINAA challenged that narrative with an updated Swiss passport design. They wanted to “honour the tradition of innovation in Swiss graphic arts” while emphasizing the passport is “the expression of Helvetic identity and a brand ambassador for Switzerland abroad. It is a celebration of Swissness and a showcase of technological know-how."

1 — your space reflects who you are
My wife and I have been intermittently working on our home design “plan” for a year now. It’s a daunting task, balancing shared self-expression and frugality. I enjoyed watching Gawx share his process, pitfalls, and perspective, wrapped up in a gorgeous-yet-erratic storytelling style.
2 — an experimental publication (in your calendar)
PoetiCal is an art project created by Javier Arce that is a bit like finding surprisingly poignant prose in unexpected places. Except instead of finding it scrawled into an old book or on the wall of a bathroom, it’s in your calendar. The only way to read PoetiCal’s contents is to subscribe to the calendar feed and be surprised when they pop up. (And yes, you can share your own text with others as well)
3 — New York has 12 seasons
This site may seem simple, but by its creator Devon Peticolas’s own admission, it’s anything but. At first glance, the page looks like it could be built with Notion in a couple of minutes. But behind the scenes, it’s using live data like time of day, temperature, and air quality index, as well as fifty-three years of historical data. To read more about how it works, click “About this page” toward the bottom.
