Can't you change password while you are logged in? Its worth a try you know.

Problem is (I believe), they'll force you to enter your current password - first, which I can't do, so I'll just let thing be... until they are not.

Other accounts may rely on your access to that mail, so it'd be a good idea to migrate those accounts while you have access to receive email change confirmation mail.
