Upgrade your browser before reporting any problems. Every new version includes compatibility fixes and it's likely whatever problems you face have been fixed later.

do you have any feedback on settings or extensions that improve compatibility with these kinds of modern platforms without breaking the browser engine?

There is no silver bullet; if you face problem with specific sites then create a separate post in the 'web compatibility' sub forum for each site and include the troubleshooting information that the post template shows, else the only advice for 'these kinds of platforms' is to contact them and ask them to test their site against Pale Moon instead of assuming Chrome is the be and end all of the web.
