Basilisk • Will Not Save Settings - GhostBSD
First of all, I would like to thank the developers for compiling a FreeBSD edition of the browser. Not only is it appreciated as another browser for the OS, but I also like Basilisk because I can use my old Firefox extensions that worked on the version before 56 or whatever that version was when they changed everything under the hood. I have saved several browser extensions for Firefox over the years because you never know if you may need them again. And this is one of those times where it's paid off. One of my favorite extensions, DownloadThemAll, changed the way the extension displays it's windows, as well as changed the way it works, and I like the older version better. Basilisk allows using these older extensions, and therefore bringing back the functionality I need.
This is the latest version of GhostBSD. First installed it when it was the previous version (based on FreeBSD 14.3--I think), then I upgraded it; so now it's FreeBSD 15.2. It was the Mate edition, and I added Cinnamon to it. I realize that Basilisk is for version 13.5 of FreeBSD, but it's always worth trying, right? Anyway, I've installed the browser in Windows, Mac and Linux (Mint) and so far, no problems. However, this one doesn't like GhostBSD (or maybe something is screwy in my system).
Problem/strange results/and steps to reproduce: I go under the hamburger menu/customize to change the menu and bookmarks bars to show. Then I shutdown the browser to give it a chance to save those settings, but it does not save them. I even went into about:config to try and change them there with no luck. Also, the browser starts using a lot of CPU, the fan comes on and stays on until I kill the browser inside of Htop. After closing the browser, it does not close and leave memory. It continues to run with high CPU and fan, and the only way to stop it is killing it one way or the other.
Expected results: Browser allows saving settings and does not eat up all my computing power for no apparent reason. Hope someone knows the answer or it can be fixed. Thanks.
