Cake Wallet: Monero via DFX requires KYC now. Alternatives?

I only recently learned that it was possible to buy Monero via Cake Wallet’s app with no ID and just a credit card, depending on your location.

My first thought after learning this was:

1. How does Cake Wallet or DFX determine your location?

And my subsequent thoughts were:

1. If you’ve never bought from them before is it your IP?
2. What if you always use a VPN and your IP frequently changes?

Suppose your VPN IP is Austrlia, and people in Australia are not required to provide ID. But then you pay with a German credit card.

1. Does Cake Wallet or DFX now determine that your location is actually Germany and not Australia?

2. Why do some countries require KYC and others don’t? How does DFX or Cake Wallet determine that?

I’m sorry, I have never bought Monero via Cake Wallet, so I am not of much help, but I am very intrigued by your situation.

Do you know if people your country or other countries are still able to buy without KYC?
