PSA: GitHub changes to training on interactions with Copilot & Secretly adding authorizations to users accounts

This should have more visibility. Around the time of the original post, Github opted everyone into Copilot services. Since then they have changed the location of this setting at least once (it is possible I was in an A/B test).

Go to Settings → Copilot: Features → “ Allow GitHub to use my data for AI model training” → Select Disable from the drop down if it’s enabled.

I did not see the Agent settings turned on by default. Those are under Settings → Copilot: Cloud Agent.

The very limited trust I had left in Github has been completely eroded. I found out by chance. I just happened to go into my settings the day after they did this and found it on. I would not have known about this. I didn’t get that email.
