Are you also getting this issue when you reduce your Planet radius (just to check if this is a precision problem)?
I see that you sometime iterate and add STEP. This may result in floating-point drifts. Over hundreds of iterations, the edge of Tile A might calculate a boundary position as 100.00001, while Tile B (starting from a different origin) calculates that same shared edge as 100.00005.
