Grokipedia Cites to My Anime Review
I checked the top NLJ backlinks on Ahrefs (the limited free selection). I saw Grokipedia:
I understand that Grokipedia is the X AI answer to Wikipedia. While I have some documented issues with Wikipedia, I am inclined to doubt that Grokipedia is the answer. But I was curious how it referenced my review of the anime adaptation of Days With My Stepsister, especially since I block Grok (and other major AI crawlers) from training on NLJ. For reference, see my archived capture of Grokipedia’s Days with My Stepsister page (I understand that things move fast and break often in the super exciting world of AI). Ahrefs was right: My anime review of Days With My Stepsister is found in footnote 58. Let us see what Grokipedia cited to me for:
The series has contributed to broader discussions on modern family dynamics in Japanese media, with critics noting its role in examining the emotional nuances of non-blood-related sibling relationships amid societal shifts toward remarriages.[58\
Far be it from me to question Grok, but since I am the “critics” being referenced here, I humbly submit my qualifications to comment. To the best of my hazy recollection, I do not believe I wrote anything in my review about this anime’s “role in examining the emotional nuances of non-blood-related sibling relationships.” To the extent I covered emotional nuances, I believe I suggested that the anime provided some basis for the step-sister’s questionable romantic inclinations, but noting that they were not at all unique to a step-sibling relationship. Moreover, I noted that the show was less successful in the case of the step-brother, leaving me with the impression he developed feelings for his step-sister because the set-up demanded it. I am also absolutely certain that I wrote nothing about “societal shifts toward remarriages.” That would have nothing to do with the anime, for one. For two, the anime is set in Japan. Japan has a first marriage problem. Remarriages require prior marriages. I do not think there is a “societal shift[ in Japan] toward remarriages.”
(Grok has some other NLJ cites too, some of which are a little bt more in the ballpark than the Days With My Stepsister review citation. I suspect that I had shared all of the posts it references to X, but that is just a guess on my part.)
