Preservation Durham’s 2026 home tour will spotlight one of Durham’s most storied neighborhoods as the nonprofit marks the 100th anniversary of Hope Valley. The tour, titled “Hope Valley Centennial,” will feature eight houses built within the neighborhood’s first decade, offering a look at the early architectural vision that helped define the community.

Launched in 1926, Hope Valley was planned around the Hope Valley golf course and country club and was designed for a new era of automobile-centered suburban living. Preservation Durham describes the neighborhood as one of Durham’s 20 National Register historic districts, known for its collection of period revival houses, including a number of early designs by Durham architect George Watts Carr.

The tour is scheduled for May 16–17, 2026, from 12 to 4 p.m. each day. Early-bird tickets are now on sale for $35 for members and $45 for the general public. General-public admission includes a one-year Preservation Durham membership for new members, and prices increase beginning April 1.
